what do you mean that it doesn't "allow some programs"? Norton AV or Norton NIS 2010 is an excellent choice for AV s/w. Far superior to what they were churning out a few years ago. Reviews of those 2 products mirror my experience with the latest Symantec entries for AV.

NIS2010 is an excellent antivirus. If it blocks some programs, put them on the exclusion list of Norton. I use MSE which is highly recommended and free. But it may have similar problems. I had to put one program (which I knew was safe because I had used it for years) on the exclusion list too.

    Regards,

Since I do not have any NIS at this time, I am not sure of the exact settings. There should be an option of "Exclude files and locations" in "settings" somewhere. Maybe someone who has NIS can give you more exact guidance.

If you open the NIS settings there is an Exclusion option. Click configure at the right and then you will have to figure it out from there (I'm on my iPod). You can see the exclusion option in this pic:

Edit: I'm not sure but you might be able to exclude SONAR from scanning a specific file. In settings go to Web Settings and look there.
