    Virus's and bugs!!!

    Hi,
we were just using the comp, Win 7 Ultamate and got 5 warnings that the machine was infected.
I ran MSE, it removed 2 Trojans and also Malwarebytes, that removed 2 Trojans, so I am just wondering where the last is? Or was it removed by one of these and I just did notice it?
I have re run these two and it says the system is clear!
Is there any other tools out there I can use to remove, but pref is there something to stop them attacking?

    Thanks.
    Neil

    Welcome,

How did you get the original 5 warnings? Was it from MSE?

If you received the warnings from MSE or Malwarebytes and then you ran a scan and it came out clear, you have no problem. To be on the safe side, update both products and run the scan again, if clear you can forget about it. Both products have an excellent reputation for finding malware and/or virus.

Not sure they came up when my wife was using it. I think it was listed as a Sercuity problem, so reading on here I think it could of been one of those disguished!!
    Prob from a download?

I have sent a screen print of what MSE found, on the first scan 2 downloaders and now it is running for a second time, so far it found another Trojan, removed that, so we see what happens?

What you wife saw was malware. One malware that you removed, kept sending pop ups warning you. They want you to buy their product to remove it. YOu are ok, now, its removed. Just enjoy the Windows 7.

Malware is not a virus. Usually they spy or try to have you buy a product with annoying pop ups.

Hi, jonesnewton. A couple suggestions --

Make sure that the file located at C:\users\Muppets\Downloads\packageupdate_build6_294.exe is deleted, clear temp files, empty the recycle bin.

Shutdown/restart the computer and then check both MSE and Malwarebytes for updates. Do a full system scan with both, completing a shutdown/restart between scans.

Edit to add: Considering recent updates to 3rd party software due to critical vulnerabilities, be sure to check that you have the latest Adobe and Oracle SunJava software. (See How-to: Reduce Vulnerability to Drive-by Downloads)

If you continue to have problems, let us know.

I always double check to make sure nothing else has been set to run at startup by using AutoRuns

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

And by starting Process Explorer on Startup to show what programs are running.

These two programs are good to learn and know what is running on your computer and what shouldn't. you can also view each process and see exactly where it is and how much memory it is using.

Two good programs. I just began using WinPatrol. It is excellent for seeing what recently has been added with or without permission.

I know, for a fact, that Corrine, likes it too.

    Thanks all for your replies.

I re ran MSE, jst the Trojans I mentioned and now I am now re running Malwarebytes to see what that finds?
I will look at the rest you suggested later.

Can I run Winpatrol with MSE and Malwarebytes?

    Thanks.

Yes you can. That is what I have. I think that you will like it. You have to use it and get use to it, it is different than the others.
