Windows Defender - startup

    Windows Defender - startup


    Windows defender keeps showing up when ever i log on or restart, its not in my startup folder and as far as i can tell there is no auto show it at startup option. Please help me get rid of this!! Thanks

    Hello Kookster,

    Turning off Windows Defender should stop this for you.

    problem is its already off i keep getting this popup everytime i restart or log on

    If nothing else helps, install MSE as your security program (after you properly uninstalled your current security program). That will definitely get rid of this nuisance because MSE uses the msmpeng.exe which is the Defender .exe.

    i installed mse already, but it was doing this before i installed it

    Ok Kookster,

    Double check all of the registry locations in METHOD FOUR of the tutorial below to see if you see any entry for Windows Defender (MSASCui.exe) listed.

    I tried that, it wasnt in there, but on a good note I took out 4 programs i didnt want running in the background anymore.

    Have you already checked in Task Scheduler to see if there may be a task that is running this?

    as far as i can tell nope, looks just like the screen shot.

    Also found out why i didnt notice it earlier cause i was looking for the wrong file in the registry. My bad, but either way its better now.
