If you already don't have one in place you may want to look into a good Malware/Spyware program as well for added security. Always better to try and go full spectrum than to do a 3/4 bellyflopper.

Malwarebytes is a good choice for on-demand scans.

Although Norton does a really good on its own, it doesn't really like any other spyware scanners that actively scan along side of it.
On-Demand is fine, and all you really need anyway.

Ive also seen Super Anti-Spyware & Hitman Pro recommended alot around here. But never used them myself.

You can see 4 on-demand malware/spyware programs in my sig*. 1-2 is recommended to help compliment your av program.

I would recommend Malwarebytes and Hitman Pro.

*I rarely scan with all 4.

Did Norton do something different in the 2010 version? I am curious because the previous versions were pretty bad. I am not bashing it but just would like to know what you guys like about 2010.

The big change came in 2009. I had sworn to never go near their products after numerous bad experiences, but Symantec seriously improved performance just about everywhere. NIS 2009/2010 installs in less then 2 minutes, and uninstalls equally quickly. Uninstalling NIS was a very slow process in older versions and prone to failure as well, which then required running the Norton Removal Tool. All versions prior to 2009 were real dogs when it came impacting system performance, but this changed dramatically in 09/10. NIS also got very good scores in most if not all categories in the pcmag.com review (not certain but I think the spam filtering and Parental & Privacy Controls modules were not so great). You can download a 60 trial at softpedia. Why not try it and see what you think?
