Yup. Infact, you will find Kaspersky better in some cases.

The best is Avast Anti Virus, it's free, and uses barley no CPU

Download FREE antivirus software - avast! Home Edition

Sorry, but I had Avast loaded on several systems. I find it slows the system down quite a bit. Not a fan.

Notice that all of the spam advertising here contains ads for Avast. LOL! Yeah, like I'd trust a company who pays people to spam forums.

    ^ lol.
i used to use Avast back in the day. i hated it, but i was "not that good with doing computer" so i didnt know there were alternatives. then i used Nod32 for a while (like a 2 year trial ). now i use MSE. but im curious of these "experimental" A/V suites from Kerplaskery (w/e) and Norton. maybe worth a look?

    Nope.

    Tried both now.

Full system scan going in the background. Quad core system, 8 GB or RAM. Kaspersky caused playback of a AVI file to be very choppy wth huge pauses in between while scanning. ESET...no pauses at all. System performance was WAY better with ESET.

That's what I'm sticking with for sure. ESET FTW.

I m on C2D processor 1.83 Ghz(laptop), 2 GB RAM and even on full scan, kaspersky never slowed down my pc.
Still, ESET is a good choice though.
