@ICit2lol - We might be headed toward a "Social Group" concept here :

@MilesAhead - That was a complement! Habitual analogists here! I was just curious about the "drop my rights" feature you spoke of. I'm don't remember hear of such a thing, but maybe it too obvious, you know "Right in my face!" Does it allow for bypassing the patchguard in Win7 x64 in some way?

Thanks
Mike

The "shower with a raincoat nn" is just my personal opinion of using real time shields. Has nothing to do with you.

It can't bypass patch guard on 64 bit. Drop my rights I haven't investigated to any extent but I gather the reliance is on reducing the privileges of the user's account so that malware may be prevented from certain operations.

I use Sandboxie on Vista64 but only on occasion. Mainly if I'm going to browse to a link posted by someone I don't know. Also the licensing has changed to where the author can deactivate you if he suspects you're passing around enabled copies. The version I use is the last one that doesn't check in to see if I'm still a good boy. I just don't like the idea somebody can remotely kill my registration when I paid for the software and then it's up to me to chase the person around to prove I did nothing wrong. To me the onus should be on the person taking the action.

I would get the info from the site since I haven't updated or participated in the forums in some time.

Oh I misunderstood, I guess I assumed the 64b would have PG to stop the krnl mod and that was why it worked on the 32b, I guess thats why I haven't heard of that.

Thx,
Mike

The CIS Miles actually goes straight into sandbox mode - well it asks you first so you have a choice - thats what I like about it. I just wish I cold find some way of using that feature as Kaspersky does with the online banking feature that I wouldn't be without on my main machine/s.

Just thinking we should have a section for AA in here -Analogists Anonymous LOL!!

There is no best, it's preference on what has worked for people in the past.
I prefer AVG Free or AdAware.

Welcome Gameplanner and well said you could add what I always maintain - ad nauseum - that it also relies on the online behaviour of the operator - we obey road rules - no different on the net my friend.

By the by if you go KIS give me a bell I know of the perfect configuration set up if you haven't used it before. My machines are all KIS except my testers on Comodo.

Just a suggestion MIGU if you want something different not that MSE is no good it is but I have been testing out the free Comodo Premium - top firewall and easy to configure. Mind you you have to put up with some sales nagging - at first.
