I have read several post that stated Bitdefender and Malwarebytes Anti Malware don't get along with each other. I can't verify that because I don't use Bitdefender.

Well from experience testing the free BitDefender I can affirm that Bear and the MBAM was only the on call scanner too - the BitDefender would constantly pop up blocks on the MBAM when trying to scan or even just clicking on it. :)

avg antivirus free or avast free. ignore the horror stories you read about avg. been using it for years and no problems ever. avast is also good. common sense is the best antivirus, to bad there ain't a download for that. mcafee and Norton been around a long time. had mcafee didn't like them. too much freeware so try them all and pick one that you like that works for your web needs. just my opinion. poorguy

yeah lots of different free antivirus out there and most of it does a decent job of keeping one safe. try them all if needed to find one that fits your web use. we all have a favorite band that we each think is best. most of the free antivirus gives basic web protection and with good surfing habits one is going to be ok. I have tried most of them and some I like and some I don't like. also with each new version a person may or may not like one that was used before. paid versions say they offer more safety and they might. however safe one might think they are everyone can be hacked into no one is totally safe. safe web habits and offer the least info about yourself is the best you can do. antivirus and antimalware and common sense are your best defense. any virus that I have had I let in by opening something that I wished I hadn't and BAM it was to late. happy safe adventurous web surfing. poorguy

Norton is alright, better then what it use to be from the times i've used it but mcafee imo is bad at least to me. A lot of computers I've had to fix have had mcafee, pretty weak from my experience.

    I've had both,
Norton I had for 6 months and I was reloading windows after that so it didn't last 6 months before corruption was so deep a fresh install was needed,
I didn't have mcafee more than an hour/ windows popup saying it was not compatible with win-7,
This was just after I used a windows 7 upgrade disk from vista on a new computer,
Norton to this day still tags my attachments to others as viruses, 3 1/2 years after I dumped them
Been using mse/ malewareb...pro/ superanti..pro every since never been operating better.

if mcafee is still tagging you then you need to download agent ransack and find out where it is still at on your hard drive and completely uninstall any and all traces. poorguy
