Agreed, however I have done many other tests, posted in other Threads where VIPRE has failed. At this point I will not recommend it and would tell people to completely avoid it. On a special test machine the machine has become infected 8 times so far with VIPRE installed. Installing another AV and disabling VIPRE will clean up the machine. Lay down a fresh image and start all over with another AV and everything is caught, so far only VIPRE is failing all the tests we have thrown at it.

this is a good test as to wether your AV's detecting mechanisms is working properly. however, it's not assurance as to wether your AV is good against false negatives.

true.. but in this case, it is a false positive, so if your AV never picked up false positives you would think it wasn't doing its job, when in fact it was doing it perfectly, and would get rid of the perfect antivirus... yeah... get your heads round that

Imagine if somebody designed a virus in a way that it gets flagged as a false positive.
Also: ClamXav caught it immediately
