    Windows Security Center

    Hi,

I was using Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE), then tried Panda Cloud as an Anti Virus.

I am having a problem with the Action Center, Windows Security Center, recognizing my AV program. It also no longer recognizes Windows Defender when using Panda. Here is the error that I get:

"The Windows Security Center Service was unable to establish event queries with WMI to monitor third party AntiVirus, AntiSpyware and Firewall."

    "Error 3"

I would appreciate any ideas on how to fix this problem?

    RAM: 3G

    Thanks,
    Don

Did you uninstall MSE? If you did, type services.msc in the start search box.
Click on the icon... scroll down to Windows Defender. Restart the application.

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I reinstalled MSE after troubleshooting with a different AV & Spyware. MSE turned defender off (since it is already incorporated) and reset it to manual in Services. I still get the same error in Events. Somehow, there is a disconnect with the Action Center recognizing that I have an antivirus installed. I'll continue to troubleshoot. I'm sure I hosed myself somehow.

    Thanks,
    Don

    Security Center Follow-up -- Resolved

    Hi,

I never could figure out what was going on. It was just easier to reload a mirror image and everything is back to normal. I'm sure I stepped on something.

    Consider this issue resolved.

    Thanks,
    Don

hmmm I'm having the same issue, but i've always been using MSE :/

pc is custom made and running Win7 64bit. Only have MSE and the windows firewall for protection. Run Malwarebytes antimalware from time to time. It's rather strange that I'm getting this error.
Scanned for viruses/malware in safe mode, but it looks clear .

I had the same problem once. I was satisfied with my security set up but kept gettin messages from windows security center. I was getting aggrivated, so I went into control panel and turned off messages from security center. -No more messages.

Yes indeed essenbe, that's always the easiest of options, but i was just wondering whether there's anything suspicious about this behaviour

"The Windows Security Center Service was unable to establish event queries with WMI to monitor third party AntiVirus, AntiSpyware and Firewall."

    and then
"Session "Microsoft Security Essentials OOBE" stopped due to the following error: 0xC000000D"

however, I can see the icon in the taskbar and when right-clicking it opens fine and i can do updates and scans ...

    it's just weird.

Truthfully, I am not sure. However, I do know that for some reason some times Windows security center cannot alwaysidentify that there is a third party antivirus program installed on your computer. If your antivirus has it's own firewall and antivirus program running all that windows knows is that windows firewall is turned off. So it tells you that you have no security protection. That has happened to me several times. The AV program was set up and running properly. Windows kept giving me security alerts. I just turned the messages off. I am only telling you my solution. I have no idea what the proper and correct answer is. But I was sure that my third party AV security was set up and running properly. So, I just turned off security messages.

    i see .

Trouble is that my antivirus IS Microsoft Security Essentials and firewall is the standard Windows 7 firewall :/ which makes me a bit wary about that notification. Shouldn't a Microsoft product (Windows) be able to see its own antivirus/antimalware solution (MS Security essentials?!)
but then again... who knows! xD

I turned off the messages as well :O

Set Windows Defender to 'disabled' in Services. See if that helps with the notifications.
