Agree, there is really no best. Majority of it is preference.
There is no best Anti Virus software. Different Anti Virus software suit different people. Personally I like light weight (AVs that don't use much system resources) Anti Virus software the best.

I originally used MSE but I decided to switch to Avast 5. That chart showed shows that Avast is better. Glad I switched.

Well personally the A/V software I prefer using isn't on the poll.
I use Eset Smart System, it covers me for everything and it isn't a system hog like some others I can mention.
I guess though it is down to a persons individual needs and preferences, the main thing is of course, that you have one installed to begin with!!

I hated Norton for years because of the resource hog that it was but my ISP started offering Norton 360 as part of my service so I gave it a try and I must say it is very impressive! Very unobtrusive runs silently when computer is idle, offers a neat back utility its a complete suite including disk clean up and an optimization program.
So I'm very happy with this program.

Comodo Internet Security is also a very powerful yet free security suite.

Layerd security is the only way that insures you are protected.

    ESET smart security
    IOBIT
    Malwarebytes
    A Squared
    Superantispyware

    Nothing gets through.

I do use the paid versions of IOBIT, A Squared and Malwarebytes. The extera realtime protection is what helps the most.

i have voted AVG..... It uses some memory but the gaming mode is cool..... And Auto scanning Removal drive when its plugged in is an added advantage i think, though most of the viruses pass through it. Great firewall too . Then Search engine scanning system is also cool, so we can know before entering a site if its effected with virus or other harmful things. Overall I Like Avg .... A near incident is that one of my frnd is using Kaspersky, he plugged a pen drive and a virus suddenly got in and made some harmful things. Later he scanned for it and healed. Same pendrive inserted in my system with AVG. when he plugged in pendrive, AVG's autoscan started and suddenly healed it before it enter. for different persons it varies ...
