I've had a secure system with Spyware Doctor w/ AntiVirus.

It is a paid product, but for 39$ I think a year, I can equip 3 or 5 PC's. More than enough for average home network. I found it really didn't work with XP, but Vista and 7 both like it.

I also have Avira, but just do manual scans with it every once in a while for a "second opinion", and it has never found anything on my system, so I am sure SD is doing it's job.

I find nothing gets thru Intelliguard feature, unless you accidentally approve of it.

    Just my 2cents

I have had zero problems with spyware, virus and even with firewall disabled on router, I get a full stealth grade on GRC Sheilds Up.

Very satisfied with it, BUT, it is paid.

Hope Internet Security works for ya.

Layerd security is the only way that insures you are protected.

    ESET smart security
    IOBIT
    Malwarebytes
    A Squared
    Superantispyware

    Nothing gets through.

I do use the paid versions of IOBIT, A Squared and Malwarebytes. The extera realtime protection is what helps the most.
Absolutely agree about layered protection -- I really should think of investing in the paid-for version of Malwarebytes; it's a minimal outlay really
