    Security Alert


    i just recently have been getting a windows security alert from the toolbar all the way on the bottom right....wercon.exe is infected or something and everything i try to click it just has a security message saying its infected and it wants me to buy some software..is this an actual security problem or just some pop up or small virus

    It sounds like malware to me. Windows doesn't have any kind of detection software that asks you to buy any kind of software to get rid of malware. Run Malwarebytes, SpyBot S&D, AV scan, etc. until you find and get rid of this...without paying anything.

    everthing that i try to run it says that .exe for that file is infected and i get that link for software.. Im going to try to download spybot but im pretty sure after i do it wont let me open it and ill get that same message

    Just disconnect from internet and run your scan.......

    If you aren't able to run any scanners, then do a System Restore. If that fails, use a backup image to rewrite the system.

    If you have Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, you can use it in safe mode.

    Spybot s&d won't be able to delete "fake" Trojan malware (if that is what you've acquired).

    As well as Malwarebytes, try scanning with Hitman Pro and SUPERAntiSpyware. They have worked well for me.
