    Very dangerous!
    Remove by going to a previous restore date, re-boot in safe mode and use mbam

    A valid warning. Most, if not all, of the current brands of AV software have been targeted in ever realistic imitations by malware perpetrators. If downloading AV from the web, always do so directly from the manufacturer's website, in this case Microsoft.

    Not necessarily, some AV's come in the guise as trojans and so on.

    Don't forget that thousands of noobs venture out into the jungle of the internet every day & will continue to do so ad infinitem. Their experience is zero. They can't be expected to have our knowlege - even the most basic fundamentals are a mystery to them. Only time, experience & forums such as this will educate them - we hope!
