if you want to search for a word /words in a pdf-file, then there is a small window at the top-bar where you enter the word, my last installed Foxit-reader had "ASK" to the left of that window.

if you donīt see the searchbutton then you perhaps have removed it from the top-bar ?
right-click with your mouse on the bar and select search, and then see what happens...
Hallo hackerman, you got me thinking and i have had the Ask button install on the PDF viewer itself on a previous version when i deselected all the Ask options.

I do not have it on this installation & tried reinstalling as well & it has not turned up.

But as you have kindly pointed out that Ask is a Security risk & because i have had it install previously without consent. I think i will explore the alternatives (why play with fire)

Thanks for bringing this to my attention

take a look on page 2:

"after starting Foxit i started looking for the ASK-searchbutton,
if you click on "Tools" then "Preferences", then the 8th setting "Internet search", then the 3rd option is "Hide Search Button".

itīs still there...

Is Foxit Reader Safe?
Is Foxit safe to use. I know Adobe had problems with hacks and many updates to fix. I am curious if Foxit can also be exploited with a hacked PDF file. Jim
