Disable UAC on a given app

Hello,
every time I open Messenger Live, I have a UAC pop up asking me to allow this application. I do not want to completely disable the UAC but I don't want it to bug me all the time when I start it.

Is there a way to remember my decision ? Or Mr. Gates haven't thought about this ?

Thanks
Tex

Try going to the messenger icon, right click properties, then security.

Make sure that you have full persmission for all activities.

Make sure that you are in an adiminstrator account.

Hi,
I just added all permission to myself on the properties but I'm still getting the pop up. I have only one account so I guess i'm in the Admin account

You can't disable UAC popup for a specific application. That is odd messenger live is giving you the popup. That usually means it is saving files to a protected area. Check the options to make sure it is not trying to save files to the "Program Files" directory or the "Windows" directory.

i think this is what you want: Elevated Program Shortcut without UAC Prompt - Create

but it shouldnt be asking for permission... be very wary, are you SURE that it is what you think it is?

Agreed. Should be no reason why WLM is giving u a UAC pop-up. Is the program available to u in the start menu?

The reason why it's asking me for admin rights is probably because I'm running it in XP Compatibility mode (I want to have the icon in the notification area when it's running)

I will try the solution proposed by severedsolo.

aha that makes sense, well in that case, make sure that you change compatibility mode options at the .exe NOT the shortcut, it can be found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Live\Messenger\msnmsgr.exe or C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\msnmsgr.exe if you run 32 bit Windows

For this damn reason, I usually start the installer with Admin rights to avoid UAC. But only to known applications.
