I've given up on saying one antivirus is better than another.

It is only a truly better antivirus if it has a 100% prevention rate which none of them do, thus still leaving you susceptible.

If they all leave you susceptible they might as well all be the same.

This is my view and feel free to disagree with it.

McAfee came bundled with my PC.

Long story short, after noticing suspicious activity, MSE caught 1 worm & 1 virus on my FD that I had scanned with McAfee several times.

The school I attend runs McAfee and this is where the virus originated. They had problems getting rid of it.

I now run MSE in conjunction with McAfee.

The letter I sent to McAfee asking why their software didn't detect a worm & virus that were 3 - 4 months old was never answered.

I trust MSE more then McAfee.

But yes, not one AV gets them all. A regrettable fact, but true.

If your using Firefox then you really should add noscript. If not... go get firefox and add noscript. Go get Microsoft Security essentials and keep Malwarebytes. Why pay for virus protection when none of them are going to catch everything. Noscript should be your first line of defense.

Oh yeh create a new standard user. After your done make it the admin and give it a really good password. Because from your first post it sounds like your running as admin and thats not good.

You mean that an A/V software didn't block bad stuff and also causes problems with networking and sharing,...say it ain't so!

Seven Forums does not encourage the use of or allow the discussion of Ad Blocking software.

It basically amounts to stealing.

The ones you have mentioned also block malicious html/javascript code I believe so I think we ca let it slide but I would not recommend using any Ad blocking software.

I tried installing a beta version of the next version of Trend Micro Titanium before all those viruses hit but it wouldn't install for some reason. It kept running into some kind of error during installation. Whatever...Norton is pleasing me so far and if all goes well within my 90 day period, I may just renew!

I looked at a preview on the Norton 2011 version. Not bad...does it slow the computer down? Probably won't know until the complete version is released.

Installing the add-on No-Scripts or Adblock is tantamount to stealing, and it's not a topic that allowed here... really?

Surprise, surprise, Technet Downloads Aren't Genuine??
Imagine my surprise this morning when booting into my Technet provided Windows 7 RTM to get a pop-up telling me that my Windows may not be genuine. Unfortunately one can't validate it until after October 22 as the WGA verification hasn't yet been updated. I guess I shall have to grin and...
