    1. Who installed your AVG Anti Virus program for you? [I seem to recall you saying someone else did] Yes not a good tech installed real fast
    2. Did your computer come with another Anti Virus program installed? No

I am not technical wanted to know the different settings mean am confused can I ask please
Not many of us are "technical." We always endevour to do our best helping others.

I would suggest all of your current problems with your AVG would be better addressed by your Tech person who installed the program.....
There should be a "duty of care" provided. You are not satisfied with things as they are. This person should be made aware. You should also watch, ask questions & make sure that you are completely happy before leaving.

    brightsun,

I am not trying to be rude or belittle you in any way but by your own admission you

"are not technical" , that being said, for someone to try and explain some fairly

technical settings to you would be a quite a feat.

If you are not getting infections and your antivirus is working for you it is probably

best to leave it at the default settings and when you actually have a problem you

can then seek help with it.

I hope you don't take that the wrong way, but alot of people have helped you here

and like the old saying goes, "If it aint broke don't fix it" .

I hope you find the satisfaction you are looking for with your AVG settings.

    Take care,

    Derek

Hi BrightSun !! Are you using Internet explorer ? If so , click on tools > manage add ons . A manage add ons window will appear. Here "Toolbars and extentions" in addon types is selected by default. Select your desired toolbar, right click on it, and disable it .

Inform us whether it worked or not .

Better you download it from softpedia Download AVG Free Edition 9.0 Build 819a2842 Free - Award winning protection to meet your basic security needs - Softpedia .

While installing, the Yahoo search may me checked by default; dont forget to uncheck it, and if it is not checked at all ... let it remain so; so do it carefully.

But if you are in search of a free antivirus, why not you try avast! - Download Free Antivirus Software or Internet Security ?

Go through the installation ... after two or three pages the installer will prompt you to install yahoo toolbar, to set yahoo as your default search engine, and etc etc. Usually these options are checked by default. So you need to uncheck these all . Many programs come bundled with those scrap items including one of my favorite program Ccleaner.

But if they are not checked, just press next on that page.

Better you do not install any toolbar during AVG installation. If you want a toolbar to work with your web browser, download it separately later, and install is it is .
