UAC is not the same as Linux user-land, so we can't really compare both of them apple to apple, LUA is a bit closer to Linux user-land, but still differ in many ways...
pacman10, once the malware is in your system, UAC won't show any warning... because obviously it's already running... There are a lot of threads in here about virus or malware infections, none of them show any UAC warning other than apps that are started manually...

I'm with zzz on this, UAC = false sense of security. Same with A/V software for that matter.
Another reason to use UAC: because of UAC prompts, one may be alerted to the presence of malware that wants admin privileges, which may spur one to initiate an on-demand malware scan - the malware may otherwise have gone unnoticed and continued to do bad things.
Personally, I like it. At first it was a pain in the neck. Then, after reading a bit, I decided that I liked a pop up asking me, Do you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer? I also like having to run all of my tools, defrag, start up manager, crap cleaner etc. as admin. No one else can get in and change anything. I'm not on the anti MS- bandwagon.
