    Warning-Virus Alert

Although, I do not know if it is true, a warning has been given to me concerning a potentially dangerous virus.

Thanks to Stoney in Vista, this information:

In the coming days, DO NOT open any message with an attachment called: Black in the White House, regardless of who sent it to you. It is a virus that opens an Olympics torch that burns the whole hard disk C of your computer. This virus comes from a known person who you have in your list.

Directions: You should send this message to all of your contacts. It is better to receive this e-mail 25 times than to receive the virus and open it. If you receive a message called Black in the White House even if sent by a friend, do not open, and shut down your machine immediately. It is the worst virus announced by CNN. This new virus has been discovered recently it has been classified by Microsoft as the virus most destructive ever.
This virus was discovered yesterday afternoon by McAfee. There is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the hard disk, where vital information function is stored.

Thank you for the information Stoney

    Dont you just love Snopes.

I have found this many times when people warn of things, or announce things, or criticize political figures in emails. Most all the time Snopes has researched it.

I am not suprised that a virus of this caliber can be orchestrated, but I also always check snopes.

As I said, I was not sure if it was a valid warning, but I present it to you just in case.

I've gotten emails about this before and I've also heard that it's a hoax.

I agree with you on the Windows Live Preview. in a world of don't-click-unsoliceted-emails you would think a preview pane would be taken out of the design.

Unless the preview pane doesn't allow any scripts, websites, graphics, attachments to be processed at all.

Wish I had remembered to check Snopes before I forwarded a warning. I think I retracted it before anyone would have been able to forward the forward though.

Quite to the contrary, you did us a service. Whenever something like this hits, we all start to think about security, which is a good thing. TY for the update.

I'm waiting for the day that someone decides to use a hoax as a cover for a real virus. After all, you have all these emails floating around that have been proven hoaxes/safe, it would be really easy for someone to send out a real virus under that cover...
