I usually recommend MSE for people who want free and are low risk and ESET if they want to pay for a product and need more protection.

What would you recommend to me?
I always check twice what i download, check if the link is the same as the address, search the web with caution so i don't think i need much protection.
I rarely get viruses ( That is of course, the ones i detect ).

Well, I don't pirate software and I don't pay for things that I don't need. So, all things considered, the freebie solution would likely work for you. If however, others use your computer, you download from p2p sites, use warez sites, or torrent software, movies, MP3's or the like...I would go with something like ESET instead.

    Hi,
I have Microsoft Security Essentials installed and i don't think it does a pretty good job in keeping my computer virus-free. So i wanted, free or paid anti-virus which:
-In your opinion very good, low memory footprint, low CPU usage.

What do you guys think about Auslogics Anti-Virus?

    I'll take any opinions.

    Thanks,
    Alex.

PS: Please, don't just recommend anti-virus only. I want Firewall, Anti-Spyware, everything.
I have used Zone Alarm Security Suite for about ten years. It has Firewall, Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware and email protection. It cost $20 a year to keep the updates coming, but that seems cheap to me for what you get. When Windows 7 came out, they gave a free updated program for that. I highly recommend it.

I like & use Norton 2010 & would reccomend it for paid soulution. Never had a issue with it.

Also, Malwarebytes (which has a free version) for occasional demand scans, regardless what AV suite you choose. It has its own anti-spyware so you do not want something that actively scans beside it. it gets grouchy.

I usually reccomend MSE for those looking for a free solution.

You will get many different views & opinions on this subject.

There have been many good suggestions, none of which are wrong. Its really all about how much (if any) you want to spend, what features you want, and personal preference.

Norton, Kaspersky and ESET all have a 30 trial period.

I would suggest giving one a test run you think you may like (or all) before you decide which you wish to purchase.

    AlexRD,
I used Norton Enterprise Edition, I have used AVG and recently downloaded Avast and I have been very impressed, it is quick, uses low memory resource and it even loads a plug-in for MS Outlook Email and unloads it when you exit, there is a free and paid version.

With your habits I suggest looking into something like Sandboxie (sandboxing the browser is enough) coupled with a free anti-virus (Panda Cloud AV, Avira, AVG, Avast!) and one or more anti-malware (on-demand).

If you do want to go for a paid suite, I recommend Norton Internet Security.
