Windows 7: Windows 7 + Biometrics

Windows 7 + Biometrics

Here is the scenario:

-Enable Finger Print Reader
-Enroll Fingerprints
-Have user login with enrolled fingerprint.
-Have user lock the laptop
-Try to login with another ID (ie; a Domain administrator) but the "Other User" option is not available anymore

If you turn off the fingerprint reader, it becomes available again.

This is something that is used daily in a domain environment

Windows 7 & Windows Vista Ultimate

Hi, jhall555. Welcome to Windows 7 Forums.

Apologies that I cannot be of much assistance as am not involved in the corporate environment. This is something that should be addressed by your Corporate IT Department. However, that said, a couple of thoughts -- have you checked for an updated driver for the fingerprint reader? Also, in looking at the Lenovo website, I wonder if it is necessary to enable Domain-based roaming.

Thanks for the reply.

I am in the IT Dept here, I did find that in Group Policies there is a setting for disallowing fast user switching, by default it should be allowed and is allowed, but once the fingerprint software goes on (Microsoft's) it disables it.

If I do a gpedit.msc and disable this policy, I am able to login as a different user.

I guess this is a workaround, I'm not sure why Windows would disable this function when using the fingerprint reader.

Hi before windows 7 you could buy a biometric reader and use it to access websites requiring a log in. This has been removed in windows 7. Is it never going to be added back in?
