what don't you like about MSE?

    You don't need any special settings.

    My PC is set to check Windows Update, but not to download anything.

    I do not use scheduled scans in MSE.

    With those settings, it updates every 36 to 48 hours with no manual intervention. I have NEVER done a manual update.

    If you are highly paranoid and insist on more frequent updates, I think you will have to do them manually. But the technology behind MSE is designed to eliminate the need for up-to-the-minute updates by examining unknown threats through the cloud. It has worked well for me so far.

    ok thanks for the information i use Avast at the moment but MSE has been rated and proven to be the best free anti virus so i might switch.

    What disapointed me a little was the Full Scan taking a lot of ressources and long to run, compare to my actual AV. No problems were on Windows Update.

    No, my Windows Update is not set for automatic. MSE does update automatically on it's own.
