I cant remove DELL Theme !!!!

    Hi
I bought laptop from DELL that has Dell themes... that includes screen frames, icons, the start button, colors, etc.
I want to change to windows default theme...
I tried from " Personalization " to chose Aero Windows Default Theme but only changed the desktop background...did not change frames or icons or colours and did not get Aero effects too !!
any idea how to change it to windows default...?
    I use Windows 7 Ultimate
    thanks

Hi asmgx and Welcome to the Forum
Please can you complete your system specs so for the future we have that info to hand.
So far as your post is concerned, I think you might have missed the scroll bar on the right of the "Personalize" window. If you use that to scroll down you will see this:
    Attachment 90863
Select the one that is ringed. That should make the changes you want. I agree the Dell one is boring!!!!
Please post back with you result

I know nothing about a Dell but you could try this. Right click on blank spot on desktop/personalize and look in left upper corner for change Icons set to default.

Hi asmgx; another option would be to use a third party theme, there are spans to choose from online (I find deviantART: where ART meets application! have a nice variety), and you can apply it without having to patch system files.

Use UxStyle - no more patching. to allow third-party themes (not made by MS), it will run as a tiny background service and leaves your system files intact.

    Quick fix

Go to Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Display. Change the setting to 100%.

Factory preinstalled Win7 is a corrupt install to begin with, larded with bloatware and duplicate utilities which have much better versions built into Win7. For this reason tech enthusiasts will Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 so they can enjoy native Win7 performance.

At the minimum I'd Clean Up Factory Bloatware

I have to agreee with gregrocker. There are quite a few reasons why most of us wipe an OEM system as soon as we get them. I would make sure you have your restore discs, just in case you ever want to roll back, but then you can download a plain Windows 7 disc, and do a proper clean install. You'll thank us later.

There must be something I am missing; is the OP still looking for a solution over 2 1/2 years after posting?

Well I look at the title of an old thread and if it seems like something that's being found in searches I sometimes append helpful info for those finding it. Our threads live on for years in Google searches. In this case a "Dell Theme" reminded me of Clean Reinstall. But then mashed potatoes reminds me of Clean Reinstall.
