Visual Styles: How to Manually Patch .DLL Files?
Hello,
I love desktop customization and I want to fully customize my desktop. I've been using the UxStyle Core Beta software which doesn't patch .dll files but enables custom themes. However, buttons and some elements of Explorer windows don't change, which doesn't provide me with the full potential of customization I'm looking for.
I'm also trying to be careful when it comes to system files. I've been reading through these forums as well as other sources on the Internet and it seems that many people have problems after patching their systems using that Universal Theme Patcher (Blue Screen, logon problems, windows and icons getting messed up...etc). So I was wondering if there was a way to manually replace the 3 files in System32 and the two files in SysWOW64 as I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium. And if so, would that be safe and what are the risks and solutions to the possible problems? (Would it also be possible to provide me with a link to the 5 .dll files?)
Sorry for being too picky but I don't want to format my new laptop, and thank you for your time and answers :)
