    I need confirmation regarding customization

hello.. i've been browsing a thorough research on how to install a custom 3rd party themes on my laptop.. i did a few research such as how to make a restore and set a backup system just in case something go WRONG this is because installing custom themes involve "modification" of a few .dll files and such in the 'windows' folder.. when i'm all set.. something did go WRONG and have to use my restore point a few times and the last time i did i even have to use my Backup as my restore point was somehow corrupted when i tried restoring now everything went back to normal and i plan to try another attempt.. but something bugs my mind.. so here's the question:

    • when i do change my themes to 3rd party custom.. will that affect my system in the long term..? i just figured i dnt want to some day come across a time when i start my laptop and a message like "program can't start because .dll files is missing"

    • also.. i would like to know how can i restore my default files that i have "modified" because of the custom themes? just in case i want to return to the default settings :)

    • then i would also like to know when installing the custom themes.. does that include all the orbs and the folders or do i have to do that separately?

these are the questions that i've been trying to get an answer but i've got none.. hope someone can help me with these or i'm better off not installing any custom themes at all..

    No

Use this SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
then i would also like to know when installing the custom themes.. does that include all the orbs and the folders or do i have to do that separately
No you need to do it.

Use this Tutorial Enabling Custom Themes - Windows 7

And some theme have system files to change back & forward buttoms the look of the clock start orb ect. you do not need to change them but you can for the look you need to take ownership of them files use this Take Ownership Shortcut

    Or you can do this
Right click on the file and go to 'properties'.
    Click on the 'security' tab.
    Click 'Advanced'.
    Click on the 'Owner' tab.
    Click 'Edit'.
Select your user and click OK.
Click OK on the next box.
Then OK on the final box.

Now right click on the file again and go to 'Properties'
    Click on the 'security' tab.
    Click 'Edit'.
    Select 'Users'.
In the bottom part of the box, tick the box to allow 'Full Control'
Click OK then OK again on the last box.

You now own that file and have full permissions over it.

Now simply right click and 'rename' the extension of the file to .BAK
Then paste in your replacement file.
BUT MAKE A BACKUP MAKE RESTORE POINT & IMAGE YOUR DRIVE IF YOU CAN
