    Mr. Grim and Generator, thank you very much. It installed smoothly and now I have blue folders. The only thing that went wrong is that the Windows Explorer Icon that's pinned to my taskbar is still yellow. However, in other areas, it's blue. Everything else is fine though, so I'm happy.

    Again, thank you! +rep to the two of you

    BETA port of darkbase VS

    Preview

    Link
    Base BETA for Win7 by ~AlbinoAsian on deviantART

    Info
    This is a BETA of a port I'm doing of the wonderful base by =jg-visuals on deviantART
    Permissions have been obtained.
    I'm also in the progress of releasing the Myriad BASE Suite to go with it.

    It definitely runs on 32bit Win7 RC Build, as for other builds I can't vouch for that.

    Please note its only BASIC not AERO, the original was also just BASIC.
    The final version will include "blank" start button in explorer.exe and other edited system files. I've only uploaded the msstyle file and no theme. If you have a problem with that then please let me know. The final version will include different color highlight and font options. Although I'm not sure if its possible to do substyles or I'll just have to zip/upload several versions

    Bugs
    There's plenty of them and other things not finished yet, so please tell me what you think needs fixing =)

    You can change explorers icon on the taskbar to Glossy Blue by doing the following:

    1, un-pin the current one from the taskbar,

    2, create a new shortcut to Explorer.exe on the dektop,

    3, Right-click and goto properties,

    4, click 'Change Icon' and point it to '\Windows\system32\imageres.dll',

    5, choose the icon that is 4 columns in from the end, 2 rows up. (see piccy)

    6, Click 'OK' & then 'Apply' and then pin the new one to the taskbar.

    7, Sit back & enjoy the new Glossy Blue icon on the taskbar!

    Thank you for that info! Now I REALLY have all blue folders. Well, except for my Skype folder, but I don't think that can be changed. I tried to do it the same way as the Windows Explorer folder and it didn't work, so forget that.

    BUG DETECTED: After installing the Blue Icons, opening certain folders in the Start Menu will cause Windows Explorer to crash. For me, the affected folders were:

    Start->All Programs->Games->FINAL FANTASY VIII (crash)
    Start->All Programs->Games->Microsoft Games->Freelancer->Web Links (crash)
    Start->All Programs->Games->Microsoft Games->Halo (crash)
    Start->All Programs->K-Lite Codec Pack->Tools (crash)
    Start->All Programs->AIM (crash)

    I put this in a new post to bump the message because I think this is important.

    Thanks for the info, it may just be a problem using them with build 7100 as I haven't tried them on that build and I haven't got any of those games or apps installed to be able to replicate your problem on the build I'm on.

    I do still have the ISO for 7100 so I will extract the imageres.dll and shell32.dll and make sure they are the same and if not I will upload the new ones.

    I have had no issues thus far - but I rarely go through the start menu to programs anymore, I type the name - and thus far The Last Remnant, Race Driver G.R.I.D. and other games I have do not cause any issues.

    Thanks for the feedback, did you use the latest installer from Generator to install them or did you do yours manually, I assume you used the installer but just wanted to make sure.

    I doubt it's Windows 7's fault because I uninstalled the blue icons to make sure. Opening the files I mentioned after uninstalling didn't create any problems. Unfortunately, reinstalling the blue icons made Windows Explorer crash again when I tried to open those files.

    OK no worries, those dll's were from a different build with modified info to make them compatible so I will use the originals which I have extracted from the 7100 ISO and make some new ones and hopefully that will solve your problems.
