    Replacing explorerframe.dll crashes explorer.exe - 0xc000007B

I am trying to completely install the Appos theme and am having trouble replacing explorerframe.dll without explorer crashing and failing to restart. This theme in particular comes with an x86, x63, and sp1 folder that contain the explorerframe.dll files.

I have followed every guide to the T and all of them result in the same issue. I've even tried different themes. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

    Thanks in advance.

Edit: Forgot to add that I used UniversalThemePatcher rather than UXstyle

    Apologize about that.

Browsing Visual Styles 7 on deviantART

That's the theme I tried last, but I've tried a few before that as well with the same problem. The theme applies fine when selecting it through the windows theme manager. The problem arises when I replace the explorerframe.dll

I changed the ExplorerFrame.dll using the one listed below
    Appows for Win7\System Files\SP 1\x64_SP1\ExplorerFrame\Appows Dusk
and it worked fine I changed it with the one in the system32 folder only.

So is there no need to replace the file in SysWOW64??

Also, what does the shell32 file change?

Not with this theme I think that's what's confusing when it comes to 64-bit, when I make a explorerframe.dll I do it for both system32 and SysWOW64 so there is no confusion (I just recently found this out that the 64-bit system files are actually in the system32 folder)

Also, what does the shell32 file change?
It changes the navigation pane on the left side of some control panel Windows, also the header of the control panel.

Excellent, it worked! How did you find out that only the System32 files needed to be replaced? Did it say on the theme page and I just overlooked it?

I have come across this situation before so I actually tried it and that was the result.
I'm glad it works for you.
