    Help with UxStyle

Hi, I'm a newbie here and have decided to make an account because I'm really lost now. Last night I downloaded UxStyle from their website provided from the Customize Windows 7 Themes thread here, what I had was "UxStyle_Core_jul13_bits.zip" I followed the instructions and finished installing it. From turning off UAC to turning it on then restarting. But everytime I check my Task Manager or Services there is no "Unsigned Theme" running, and when I use a 3rd Party theme "Midnight" it just reverts back to the default Win 7 theme.

Now just before I log on here to ask, my mother opened the laptop and although sketchy she said Windows did not start normally and had a Startup Check (Not Disk Check) and what I saw was that there were no problems during startup detected, and unplug a device and restart or something. Now I am terrified is this has something to do with UxStyle Core being installed but not really since it patches certain files.

    Welcome to the forum,

I'm pretty sure you are limited because you are using Home Basic.

If you can't find it to uninstall it, try System Restore

UxStyle doesn't patch files, Uxtheme patcher does.

Check out option 2 in this tutorial, that will get you close.

Hi thanks @derekimo, did system restore and installed personalization, I'd just like to ask before I did anything, can I now run unsigned themes? And the prior window I was talking about was the startup system restore window, apparently I forgot to unplug it before I slept, resulting in an improper shutdown.

With windows 7 home basic, you are pretty limited on customizing.

I suggested personalization panel so you could use these themes from microsoft Windows 7 themes - Microsoft Windows

I just created a test machine with home basic and tried a custom theme, and it doesn't change anything.

You need to jump up to home premium to start really customizing.
