in addition to jerrys good advise , if you are uncomfortable changing system files, i am after having to re install because of a cocked up theme attempt.
you could use 7TSP it is a theme installer, mr grim make theme extras 7tsp packs. and mr grims themes usually come with installers.
check over at virtual customs . if you aint already a member you will have to make ten approved posts before you will see download links to the themes and extras. worth the effort though.

I had the program theme manager where you could just point to the file. But most of the downloads where all in .png which you can only use dll files in this program. It made my computer very slow also. I just want a Simple enough theme. I got one to work but didn't like it in the end. Anyways I will have a look at what Jerry said as most people were having the problems with the rainmeter download.

I have "Winstep Xtreme"(dont remember version #) and i highly recommend it. I believe i paid around $35 for it and it is, to me, worth much more than that. Easy to get the hang of, hardly uses any CPU or RAM, 1,000 of beautiful themes, comes with "Nexus Dock"(free and can download on its own).

    Check it out
