    Patching UXTHEME.DLL


    Iam using 7 ultimate.Can i use third party themes by patching uxtheme.dll by using universal theme patcher.If i so, what are affects on OS??

    It will not have any other effect on your computer unless for some reason you would need to run a sfc /scannow it will then unpatched your system.

    You will need to do 1 of these 2 ways of Enabling custom themes for it to work.

    The standard uxtheme.dll will not permit the installation of a theme unless it is digitally signed. This is for your protection. Having a theme digitally signed is not a trivial thing and has a significant cost associated with it. Most third party themes require a modified uxtheme.dll or some other method used to subvert this protection.

    Many third party themes are poorly written and may have stability or security issues. Many people consider the benefits of third party themes are worth the risk. I do not.
