Cannot change aero theme, only wallpaper changes but not taskbar!

    I know you said starting the desktop manager didn't work, but have you tried going to Services.msc, find the desktop manager, right click it and select properties. In the properties window will be a dialogue box, click that and set it to automatic start. Try that and see if it does any better.

    It is set to automatic, i mean it was, since before this problem started occuring.
    I know, it's so annoying i've tried so many things, geez i feel like my pc is cursed sometimes.

    Hey, I've got the excact same problem. The weird thing is that I also got an ASrock motherboard and an FX proccessor. I also found this thread and he seems to have the excact same problem with a similar setup: Aero Theme Problems Did you by any chance find a solution to the problem?

    Unfortunately no, i have no ideea what the source of the problem is or how to fix it.
    I plan on going to the Garage which is a store nearby my place that deals with all kinds of problems, those guys have helped me before and maybe they can fix this.
    I haven't had time lately to go, actually i don't really want to go and pay money to fix this but since i'm incapable of dealing with it :/.

    After months of trying to find a solution to the problem, I upgraded to windows 8.1 to see if it would help. The problem seems to be gone ever since without having to restart my computer. I think that aero themes were actually causing the issue and since windows 8.1 don't use aero the problem got fixed. Hope this helps!
