How do I change the Control Panel Navigation Pane?

    http://imageshack.com/a/img910/7154/pwagZH.jpg

As you can see from the pic, I can barely see my Control Panel nav pane. I've searched and can't find how to change the background colour in Windows. My Explorer nav pane is just fine.

What is the windows path or program to change this option? If I need third party software (which I often do using Windows), then that's fine.

Thanks for your time at least looking at my problem. :)

guess nobody is going to assist me with this?

Is this topic just to rare for any help in the matter?

Probably. It looks to me like you are using third-party software for customizing the display or that it has been over-customized. When I enlarged your image I could read the text but the colors are certainly nothing I'd want to always see. The drop-down context menu is washed out which does make it unreadable. Have you tried resetting the Desktop to the Windows default/s? Right-click the Desktop, click Personalize and at the bottom you'll see "Desktop Background", click on that and make a choice, there's several choices and I'd start with the Windows Desktop Backgrounds.

Probably can't be bothered going to imageshack. Not sure what that is - have you got third themes installed?

    I do use rainmeter

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am using a rainmeter skin that I absolutely love, except for this problem. I can change everything else color-wise except the control panel nav pane. It is a rather obscure item to customize, but it is annoying to have it the way it is.

Also, thanks for posting the actual image here. Wasn't sure I could do that or not :P

Since the original poster said rainmeter was installed you might look at Rainmeter, desktop customization tool to see if there's a version for you to download then install.

But didn't the poster just say, "Yes, I am using a rainmeter skin that I absolutely love, except for this problem. I can change everything else color-wise except the control panel nav pane"? If the software can customize everything except the thing I want to customize, why should I install it?

Never said you should install, just suggested that you might look at the site to see if it offered something you want. No one computer is exactly like another and no one user does things exactly like another so decisions have to be made according to the need or desire and the programs to accomplish that. Whether a suggested program can do as desired depends totally upon the user doing their homework in researching it.

The poster already established that it offered everything except what we wanted - it doesn't matter how different or alike computers are.

Anyway, back on topic - does anyone know of a good way to change the control panel navigation pane in Windows 8?
