    Hi ebartolon,

You can try doing these by following the instructions at How to Change the Window Color and Appearance in Windows 7

Unfortunately this doesn't work if Aero isn't enabled. All you'll get is the dialog to change the "Window Color and Appearance" options, but that's it.

To put it short, as far as I'm aware, there is no way (yet) to change the taskbar color of the Basic theme.

I'll correct myself. I found out where/how to do it. Not that difficult actually, but it needs the uxtheme patch to work.

I might post a little how-to tomorrow, if I've got time.
For the moment, some experiments: gradients, like the default style and solid black...

Well, unfortunately none of the above mentioned will help changing the Basic Taskbar, since that relies on images stored in aero.msstyles.

ebartolon, I think that's what you're looking for: custom Basic Toolbar
(btw. thx for inspiring me to figure this out. *hands some rep*)
