Try Classic Shell (http://www.classicshell.net/). Classic Shell will let you use a custom Start button.

You should be able to choose from among different menu styles. If none of them are to your liking, you can always uninstall Classic Shell.

Win 7 Start Button Changer.zip Try this orb changer.........no installation. visit the website for instructions,Just extract folder to you preferred location, create a shortcut where you want it, run program, click on the orb in upper right corner (select and change start button), navigate to where you extracted original folder or where you have your preferred start orb and select it. thats it. done. This is what I use.

Try Do Option 2 of this tutorial SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker - Windows 7 Help Forums it will not harm any data or programs you have installed it will try to find and repair any corrupt system files that you have. You may need to do this up to 3 times with a reboot after each scan. This will change any custom .dlls that have been changed.

You could change it thur the explorer.exe in C:\Windows make a copy put it on the desktop and mod it with a resource hacker.

To properly change a system file you need to take ownership give yourself permission and rename the old file and then copy in the new one look at Post #6 of this thread will tell you how to do it Basic Networking Information - Windows 7 Help Forums
