I love it! the MS team should use this kind of thingy instead of flip 3d, or use them both, why not. Thanks for sharing!

Hi there

This looks very similar to COMPIZ desktop effects (used to be part of the Beryl 3-D build) on Linux running Windows 7 under vmware workstation .

KDE 4 on Linux gives great 3D effects -- I can't take a screen dump because it's animated but I also like the "Wobbly Windows" effect -- also you can have a huge number of Virtual Desktops.

Using a Linux Desktop with 3D effects makes any AERO theme look positively tame (and the Linux stuff uses far less resources).

You don't even need any particular special graphic cards either -- a normal laptop runs the Linux Compiz 3d just fine. (And it's FREE).

Win7 (both X-32 and X-64 runs great under vmware on SUSE 11.1 (and probably most common Linux distros as well).

Cheers
jimbo

yep... another cheap port of compiz to windows. Try watching some videos about compiz or try it yourself its much better.

(please note im not a Linux fanboy, just don't like sub par copies)

blue led fans look nice
I think Deskspace is nice, most certainly an overly extravagant way to change your desktop wall paper since your desktop icons never change from desktop to desktop. The 360Desktop is nice too, but it looks like it could get to be a bit of a chore looking for 1 shortcut out of the 1000's you can place on it.

I was wondering if anyone here knew of a software that worked in a combination of both. Keeping your Icons in/on one desktop and still be able to rotate to a new clean desktop with an "identifying" background image.

I figure this way you could organize each of your projects and icons onto different desktops. Giving the true appearance of having multiple desktops.

Oh and yes, one more thing to add. I like running DreamScene type movies as my desktop, I would like to have different ones running on each of the individual backgrounds. Currently DeskSpace software only allows different pics.

Is there a way to make it display each Desktop next to each other or a program that does its virtual windows in this fashion? The cubes a tad confusing when dragging a window.

Completely agree.
I use Ubuntu (Gnome) on my laptop just for the fancy compiz stuff it does.
Would be neat to get it ported to windows, and maintain its pricetag (free!!)

However, here at work with win7 enterprise environments, 6 desktops in a cube is a bit much for most people... Just need simple virtual desktops.

Well its a self built pc with good parts, its not the most powerfull but not the worst pc either.

About the internet speed. in the house we have a 24Mbit wire, but im mostly on my 7.2Mbit wireless usb connection and after 5GB up/down data it gets stopped at 65Kbit for rest of month-.-
Well my dad was searching the web and found another fast applied program thats tiny and gives the 3d cube.. Yodm3d its called and here a pic i took on it.

It works perfect with win7 x64 wich i could not get deskspace to do.. so if u got probs like i had with deskspace then try this prog instead..
