Ps. Use "SpeedFan", check the disk's S.M.A.R.T status, see if it's indeed dying...

DxxS, I'm getting the exact same error as you after going from Windows 7 32bit to 64bit. Did you figure out what was going on? Did you update a driver? maybe firmware? update your bios?

Im not completely over the problem yet, it still does it every now and then but not nearly as often, to be honest im not sure what has caused the improvement, i ran the windows memory diagnostics which found no errors, done some basic maintenance(defrags, clean ups etc), i was having issues with werfault.exe which i have now disabled, also stopped many startup apps, the last two things seem to have made a fair contribution to system stability somehow. if it continues i will try updating bios, i dont really want to but may have to, will also try rebuilding at some point.

DxxS: After I wrote my original post 4 days ago, I went to the MSI website to see if there were any firmware or bios upgrades for my MSI K9AG Neo2-Digital motherboard.

There was a bios upgrade. I ran it and the system has not crashed since! My machine was crashing every 2 to 3 days so I just barely made it past that. I hope this really fixed it. If it crashes, I'll report back to you.
