64 bit vrs 32 bit

i want to install a clean win7 on my laptop. But i have some 64 and 32 bit applications. Can the 64 bit win7 take both 32 and 64 bit applications.

On my mac I installed 7 64 bit because it already has 4 gb and has the possibility for expansion. On my older desktop I only have Vista 32-bit with 2 gb of ram. Since the capacity is only 4 gb I won't be switching.

A x64 OS can run x64 and x86 programs.

A x86 OS can run x86 programs BUT NOT x64 programs.
