hello people,

i'm having an issue with my graphics card driver. the card is a gigabyte 9800gtx+ with 1GB of DDR3 ram. at present i'm using 7.15.11.7798 drivers released for windows Vista x64 on windows 7 (build 7057). i've tried upgrading the drivers (most recently to version 186) but my screen goes black on every attempt and i've had to roll back drivers on safe mode.

does anyone have a solution?

Ever used a driver cleaner before? Maybe this could help you.. Why don't you update your Windows 7 Version to a more actual one?

Try with 185.85, working fine on RC, don´t 186.xx tho.

With 7229 186 working. All this with a GTX260.

I dont think it actually matters which hardware you have especially since the drivers are all the same since the switch to the unified architecture by Nvidia. But still I gues it would make more sense if some member was running a card similar to yours.

Got problems with 186.03, 186.08 not tested with RC, although worked fine when tried with 7229. My RC image has 185.85, maybe I will try .08 on 7100.

well I use gigabyte 9800gtx+1gb too.

you need to upgrade your card bios to version F12, then you can upgrade your card driver.

I'm using the 9800GTX+ with windows 7100RC and have had no issues installing Nvidia drivers "181.71_geforce_win7_64bit_international_beta"

in fact that reminds me maybe it's time to check for a newer version :geek:

hello ickymay, the driver didn't work for me unfortunately. i've been scouring the net for a fix and i might have found one. it involves flashing my card's bios. it'll have to wait until i get off work.

I'm suprised you are going to have to flash your card's bios, I don't suppose you have another OS running that you could compare ?

It sounds more likely to me that your driver install is being "blocked" by a damaged or inncorect file , which means as was suggested by "bansh" you need to unninstall the driver then run a driver cleaner thoroughly more than once and possibly in safe mode just to make sure all traces are gone before you attempt a new driver install ??
