ACPI problem one more time!

I had installed Seven on my Dell Dimension 4400.. everything was all right and I was working successfully with that operating system but I had to upgrade my BIOS and after that it shows me error when I try to start system: 0xc0000225 (Windows failed to load because the firmware [bios] is not ACPI compatible). The same when I want to re-install Seven.. "Windows is loading files.." and then I can see the menu when the problem is presented.. that I should choose repair system etc.. but it always ends with the same effect - I can do nothing.
As I wrote above I wanted to upgrade bios but I stayed with the same version because of many reasons.. so I made upgrade but nothing has really changed. What's more, I'm sure that Seven may work on my machine - I used it!

Only place I saw acpi is in power screen uder acpi state.

It doesn't help.. Neither S1 State nor S3 State allows to install Seven.

A few sites talking about turning off and on again the ACPI feature solves this problem, but your bios does not have this option. That is strange.

What are the new features of your new upgraded bios?

I was using Bios in version A06 - the newest one - and after that there should be an option to turn on USB Hi-Speed 2.0 in Bios but I haven't seen it so I thought that I made sth wrong and tried to upgrade to A06 one more time - because of that I have the problem with Seven now.

Changes:

The following changes were made to the A05 BIOS to create A06:

1. Improved S.M.A.R.T. HDD error detection in POST.
2. Modified Rear Panel LED Codes to better identify memory errors.

I checked another versions and there is nothing about ACPI in changes.

Which build of Seven do I use? I have no idea - I downloaded it from Windows site about one month ago. I may check it on different PC if that is important case.

I am trying to start the installation on many different Bios settings. In about half an hour I will check every option.

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

You many have the ACPI settings in the bios set to something different causing the freezing. Boot into the bios and then go the advanced section. From there you can tab to the power options - power management setup.

ACPI Suspend Type
This option sets the energy-saving mode of the ACPI function. It determines the Standby mode in the operating system. Options are as follows:

S1 (***)
S3 (STR)
When you select S1 (***) mode, the power does not shut off and the supply status remains as it is. When you select S3 (STR) mode, the power is cut off after a delay. The status of the computer before it enters STR is saved in memory, and the computer can quickly return to its previous status when the STR function wakes.

None of settings work.. I have no more ideas what could I do. S1 and S3 are described but it doesn't change anything.. I tried to turn on both but without any positive effects.

When I bought that PC there was A04 ver. of Bios and PC was very sluggish. I made upgrade to A06 and everything started to work properly, Seven was working either. And then I made re-upgrade to A06 with the known effect. I do not know how can I roll back to original (A04?) version.. Do you know how to downgrade it? Do you think that way: A06 -> A04 -> A06 would be ok?

So you did not save your previous BIOS before update.
I think it is possible to downgrade with the same application that you used for the upgrade if you find that A04 version somewhere.
But don't forget that BIOS update is very dangerous! I payed my lesson with it!
So may be better to wait for somebody with better knowledge and answers.

If I were you i would try to get the latest build (7600) and give it a go first!

One more question.. on the Windows Seven site there is build 7100 to download.. about 7600 google says that it may be fake. Are you sure that 7600 is an official build from microsoft?

No. And no1 can be sure yet. Tousands of posts about it here.
I trust in WZOR so i use that build, but It is my choice. The only official build from MS is the RC. Allways be careful with the leaked builds! There are a lot of fakes.

I've had no problems rolling back Bios REVs on Dells. Just make sure you're on AC power and you can usually go back to the prev Reg. ALL the Bios REVs for dell are at ftp.dell\bios. Good Luck!
