Adobe CS4 setup.exe failure

Hi

I know that many people have had this problem or something similar and I have trawled through this forum and others to try and solve it, but I can't, so here I am :)

I recently installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit on my PC. Now I want to install my copy of Adobe CS4 Master Collection. I am having big problems.

I click the setup.exe file and the installer begins a scan of my computer to check my system profile. Then an error message appears telling me that:

'setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance'

I have tried many fixes but none have worked.
I have tried running the setup.exe file as administrator.
I have tried various compatibility modes but they have made no difference.

I need some new ideas. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks :)

it could be you need a 64bit version of the setup, not quite sure though just a thought

Installing Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection Windows 7 | Snaver.net Blog

The most useful suggestion is to look at the installer log, which is supposed to be in:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers

and named:

Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection 4.0 mm-dd-yyyy.log

I've not faced the problem. I installed Photoshop CS4 (only) from a download purchased directly from Adobe. No trouble under Win7 X64 Home Premium.

One of the things I have found strange about the Adobe CS4 is that I had to copy all the files from the install disk to the hard drive then find the exe file and run as administrator. I don't know if this will help you or not, but it is how I had to do it.

Good luck

I don't know about CS4, but with CS2 you must install in C:\Adobe (or something like that) not in the default programs folders.
