Solved Adobe Flash And IE Problem

Many websites require Adobe Flash. Lately, after running a cleaner app like CC Cleaner, websites visited via IE are requesting to install Adobe Flash. It has always been present when I check in the Control Panel's installed programs. On the website I clik the ok to install it and all goes well at the websites. However, it does not appear in IE's add-ons (only something called Adobe Shockwave, fwiw). This is becoming annoying. Thoughts?

Suggest:

Run the flash player removal tool:

Follow all steps listed.

Important:

Delete the following folders:

C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
%appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player
%appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player

Copy and paste the above four lines one at a time into Start> Run dialog box or Explorer window address bar to confirm that the folders no longer exist.

You must reboot after removal.

Install flash player. Currently you can download from here:

In Cleaner check the following:

Make sure that the item highlighted in red is checked but uncheck items highlighted in yellow (if present)

Exclude the following files from deletion in Ccleaners excluded files list.

C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys\settings.sol

Replace Username with your username

or else use the following path

%AppData%\Macromedia\Flash Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys\settings.sol

After the clean install of flash player if you still get problems it means that something is wrong with your settings for Active X Controls in Internet Security Zone.

Suggest resetting to default levels:

Reboot and test.

If you still have a problem suggest resetting IE completely.

wow! thx for the suggestion. Cliking install and waiting around a minute seems a lot less annoying now.

Update : CCleaner was not the culprit after all. It was happening after every computer startup (I am in the habit of restarting my machine after a thorough CCleaner session). The following link fixed my problem (it is similar to your suggestion) :

Great. Personally I always do a clean install of FlashPlayer every time there's an update available.

Yep flash player and shockwave are often confused Adobe didn't really help in straightening that out

Typically I would not install from a website asking to download anything
It's much easier to see if the add-ons exist and are enabled

Also in ie11 you might have active x filtering activated
Usually you'll see a blue circle with a slash through it on the far right end of the url address
Or you can check by going to Gear symbol/ Safety and uncheck anything checked there.

RE: Flash Player.

There are separate plugins for IE and Firefox. Chrome has it's own version built in. The Chrome version should be updated if Chrome is updated. It used to be the case that updating Chrome didn't fully remove the old versions (including Chrome's flash player)

I'm not sure how Google Chrome handles updates currently as I don't use it.

Anyway the flash player removal tool removes flash player from IE, Firefox and other browsers (but not Chrome - I think)

That allows for a clean install of flash player after a reboot. You need to install 2 versions if you use IE and Firefox. Personally I don't install the IE flash player plugin. I also use "Click to play per element plugin" for Firefox to avoid activating flash for an entire webpage or website.

Other problems with flash player in IE can be caused by incorrect settings for ActiveX controls.
