Adobe Flash keeps crashing

Real gem, go to C:\ Windows\System32\ Macromed\ Flash, and run it ....
View attachment 217764

Running, you will get teh uninstaller, perform it.
View attachment 217765

If there are more than one, run teh both, and get your system free from flash player.

now download the older version that I pointed out to you. Install it. The problem should not be there anymore, I hope.

thanks a lot Arc

I did that.

To install Java clean-completely remove the existing version(s). If using RevoUninstaller you may see more than 1 and both need to go. Now, go to the Java website nd download the offline installer for Windows.

Hi sorry, I went to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html

and the word "Offline" is nowhere on the page, and "offline installer windows" in their search box did not come up with anything that made sense, so I don't know where to get this offline installer, sorry.

thanks.

Hi Arc,

sorry I meant I uninstalled, but have not installed the older version yet because I am waiting to hear where to get the "offline installer for windows" for Java.

Haven't a clue what Java is, or why it's connected to Flash, but the other guy said I need it, so I just like to cover all angles.

thanks

OK now what's happening is when I go to download Flash Player 11.3.300.214 Beta 1 (Non-IE) 64-bit, it is automatically downloading the latest version (11.3.300.262) instead.

I just did it twice to make sure I did not make a mistake, and Adobe has highjacked older versions with the latest version!

I just downloaded Flash Player 11.2.202.235 (Non-IE) 64-bit.

I also got rid of the old text document, as I suspected the history in that determined the outcome of new installs.

The Task Manager has no mention of it, so it must be inside the plugin container (as I believe it should be), as I'm not being told on YouTube's home page that I need the Flash plugin.

So it seems ok, touch wood!

thanks a lot

There is a Flash update that supposedly fixes the problem (released 6/21). Mozilla can't seem to make up their minds either. Now, they are recommending
reverting back to Flash version 10.3 if the 6/21 fix doesn't solve your problem.
The reason for going back so far is that 10.3 has had all security updates applied while 11.2 has not.
Below is a link that will walk you through the uninstall and install of Flash version 10.3
Now I lay me down to sleep.............Please help to replace Flash.............Amen.

I had this issue a while ago, I think.

Here's some help form Adobe:
Flash Player Help / Uninstall Flash Player | Windows

Flash Player Help / Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows

I think I essentially uninstalled everything flash - step 3 was probably most critical in my case
3) Delete Flash Player files and folders.

  1. Click Start > Run.
  2. Copy and paste the following and click OK.
    C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
  3. Delete all the files in this folder.
  4. Follow step 1 to step 3 for the following:
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
    %appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player
    %appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player
I couldn't locate it, but there was a reference on the Adobe site that almost said "Use the 32 bit version, even if your system is 64 bit" Anyway, I'm running the 32 bit version of Adobe Flash on y 64 bit OS.
Sorry, I was updating a few things back then and confused Flash with Java. The reference I noted was really for Java.

Probably too late to help - sounds as though you're set, but if you continue to have problems, try the above.

I referenced the wrong software in post #34 above - it has been corrected.

Flash: 11.3.300.262
Firefox (32 bit): 13.0.1
Java (32 bit): 1.7.0_05 (updated 1 day ago, was running jre 1.6.0_33 without flash problems)

Both IE & FF are 32 bit unless you take extra steps (run IE 64, download 'beta' FF 64). And a few posts back, java was mentioned. Java bit should match your browser, 32 or 64. If you have a mix, you'll need both java.

The ocx and ActiveX apply to IE, which I hardly ever use, so yeah - that version is backdated in the images.

Heard/read this FF/flash problem is related to something Adobe did in their latest update, which is also related to Real Browser Record. I'm not sure if Real Browser Record had to be installed to provoke it.

Anyway, supposedly Mozilla hasn't waited for Adobe to fix their apparent screwup. They apparently have fixed/bypassed the issue for Adobe with a new version of Firefox (think it's 13.1). Then you can install the latest Adobe flash with no issues.

Noted, thanks Slartybart!
