I dislike Chrome's GUI and the fact it is from Google.

Pale Moon also supports most FF add-ons including (importantly) NoScript.

Other FF variants include Waterfox and Cyberfox.

If you only normally have a few tabs open, FF (apparently) uses more resources than Chrome.
OTOH, if you normally have lots of tabs open, FF (apparently) uses less resources than Chrome.
I believe that this is caused by the Tab Sandboxes.

I only have Chrome installed in my Web Development VMs and I haven't been bothered to test these claims.

I usually have at least 20 tabs open in most of my PM profiles.

Currently I have 34 tabs open in PM:

• Private Bytes: ~300 MB
• Working Set: ~330 MB
• Virtual Size: ~650 MB

I use MVPS HOSTS to filter noise in the wild. It trims the need for browser addons which love system resources. Of course no method or browser is bullet proof.

I've just done a quick count of how many I have open - 31 Firefox, 6 Chrome and 3 IE

John are you monitoring all your forum? I do understand that would take a lot of open tabs.

I'm not saying open tabs are good or bad. I just trying to think why I would need all those tabs open for. I don't want to miss out on the fun.

After about 12-15 open tabs I can't see how anyone can tell what the heck is on any of the others they get so small ?

Because I mostly use my Laptop for web browsing, I only use Chrome. It is a hogger on resources though. To be honest, nobody is safe from hackers. John, that's a large number of tabs. What are you doing with 3 web browsers simultaneously?

When I visit TV Tropes I can easily end up with 100+ tabs open.
I try to restrict my visits to that site, as (unsurprisingly) I end up trapped there for many hours.

Once when I was still using FF, I had over 200 tabs open.
I can't recall experiencing any major problems.
Of course the only other things running were my AV and Winamp.
I should have made a note of the RAM usage.

My monitor is 1920x1080 which allows me to see 17 tabs on the tab bar (in PM).
Pale Moon displays tooltips with the page titles, if you hover over a tab.
I assume that other browsers do the same.

I normally only have a few tabs open when I use IE.
I only have the page I'm testing open in Chrome.
