all usb ports quit working and i have a usb enabled keyboard and mouse

i was playing steam last night and my pc went to sleep randomly i hit the restart button and it put me at a screen safe mode or startup windows normally and my keyboard and mouse would not work at all. If i was able to get into the bios i would probably be able to fix it but i cant do anything.

I would first try something simple; shut down the system completely; unplug both the keyboard and mouse; plug them back in again and then try restarting the system and see if that does anything to help ya. If not post back and we can take it from there.

Hi You could try a cmos reset.

oscer is right. Try clearing the cmos by taking out the battery on the system board for about a minute or so; put the battery back in and see if that does anything.

i did both of those and neither one worked

How old is your system? Because it is possible depending on the age of your system and hardware that the controllers for the usb ports could have suddenly taken a dump; at which point I hate to say it but it could mean its time for a new system board if your system is custom built.

Your motherboard probably has a reset jumpers but would not k own since you did not list your hardware specs. Look for it in motherboard manual. Try that if it has the jumpers.

Can you try using the non-usb mouse and keyboard?Had a similar problem some years ago and that was the only viable solution.
