My Lenovo is acting strangely as if it is crippled by a sophisticated virus: I have access to my desktop, but any command to a program is severely limited to 1 or 2 moves with the mouse pad, thus I cannot utilize some important recovery apps such as Recovery, and Malawarebytes for a scan. After seeing how disabled the system is, I tried to install a new OS, but that has been stopped midway in the process. Everything freezes although the mouse can move.

I need to reboot each time this happens, and luckily I can access the command prompt (after scannow it found corrupted files it could not fix). Is there a way I can "Force" a fresh install or use the CMD to clean up my laptop?

Thanks for the offer, but the problem is solved, it was the mouse/keyboard driver missing. That is why no program activated, as I was not really using a working mouse.
I finally installed a new OS and went to Lenovo's support center for drivers.

For education's sake, if anyone has these problems look for a mouse driver issue:
Desktop has intermittent flashing of the "right-click mouse" commands (view, sort, refresh, etc) without touching it, and the "enter" and "space" key sometimes replaces the left-button of the mouse.

Update:
Back to square 2 as laptop is functioning except for:
A) wired mouse buttons have to be reversed on control panel
B) mousepad--which was replaced with a spare-- acts bizarrely--automatic highlighting, having to use the enter or space keys as buttons, and although the pointer points, I doubt it actually works. So i am not using it.

Tried solutions:
A) new OS
B) new Synaptic mouse driver from Lenovo (great support site)
C) new mousepad (but as mentioned did not make a difference)
D) all windows updates
E) scannow clear

I tried to upload the newer BIOS from Lenovo, but it went into BSOD as I have Legacy. UEFI did not see my HDD when I installed it a while back--and in current research it seems that I bought my HDD with MBR instead of the GPT. If this would help my situation, I would be willing to convert, but I would need support here.

My thoughts are that this is a motherboard issue...

Final Update:

Problem solved, all mice are working normal. Must have been the few reboots I have done in the meantime (after the repairs).

The title of this thread reminds me of something I heard some time ago.... "sort of pregnant".

It's one of those 'Either, Or' situations...there is no "Sort of".

And either there is a BSOD or there isn't. It's not hard to tell the difference, if you've ever seen one.
It's as obvious as a 500 pound gorilla in the room.

Just a casual observation!;)

I'm really glad it got sorted. (fixed).

Cheers mates!
