Animated Desktops?

I'd like to know how to set up an animated desktop. I tried DeskScapes but when I pressed the apply button on the wallpaper nothing happened. I also turned on transparency because I read somewhere that it helped.

I know of a way to get Dreamscene working on win7, but it implies downgrading to vista first, and then upgrading back to win7. A rather plump methode, but it's the only way to get it working :

When I use that it gives me the error that I have to run it as Administrator, I've used the Take Ownership and Run as Administrator and it brings up the same thing.

Yes I am, though Windows 7 is retarded so it doesn't let me edit certain files because I'm not some inaccesible user.

Also, all of the files you linked to are down now.

Try disabling UAC. It probably stopping you from editing those files.

It is set to Never notify, this means disabled right?

If you mean the slider is all the way down, then yes, it's disabled.

Well, i've heard before of this issue with some ppl. They end up using UxTheme for customizing themes. That always works, but means patching certain files.

The guide for UxTheme can be found in the Tutorial section.

Hope that will work for you :sarc:

Ok that's installed, now how do I add animated wallpapers with that?
Do whatever the Animated Wallpapers link said too...

That tutorial allows you to run custom themes which I believe is apart of the process...

Double post, sorry.

I don't care about the above one too much, the important problem is that the animated wallpaper freezes on startup and I have to reset it.

All of those problems can probably be fixed by using a different program.
