any advice on a budget gaming laptop?

Hey guys,

A friend of mine told me this is the place to be for any computer/software purchasing advice.

I am planning to go overseas to work/study abroad. I'm tight on money for the trip expenses and really want a decent laptop. I need a laptop that is able to play most of the up coming video games. Like for Example Star Wars: The Old Republic and COD: Black Ops.

My current budget price is set around $700. I know its pretty damn cheap and of course I'm aware I won't be able to play with high graphic settings...

I just want to be able to play games with a decent frame rate.

The first place I looked at was Dell. Which they have some decent specs for the price i was looking at however, I could be totally wrong.

Here are the specs for my custom budget laptop from Dell for $599.99

Intel® Pentium® Dual Core™ T4400 (2.2GHz/800MHz FSB/1MB cache)
4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 800MHz
320GB SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330

I would set my budget to $800 if there is a good deal to consider. Anyways please help me out

The specs are alright, although the GPU is an old one. You're not going to be able to play Black Ops at any decent framerate. Try a laptop with a 300-series Nvidia GeForce chipset. You'd get a much better deal on a desktop, just saying.

Let's put it this way,, you aren't going to find a decent gaming laptop that is going to last you for any length of time for less than rough estimate of around 1100$ to 1200$ ++ .......

When it comes to PC's, you ALWays, Always get what you pay for.

Also keep in mind,, that with a laptop, 99% of the time you will never be able to upgrade the GPU.
So, whatever it comes with, is what you will forever be stuck with on that Laptop.
There is no upgrading GPU's on a laptop,,, one of the biggest problems with so called Gaming Laptops.

Also,,,, the T4400 Specs is an ok processor, but may not be enough in the long run.
Again, you get what you pay for.
