Any of you ever used Windows XP x64?

This popped into my head out of pure curiosity. I just installed a copy of Windows XP Professional x64 on a VMware partition and I started wondering how many people have, at some point, used this OS or the related Windows XP 64-Bit Edition for Itanium processors. I know that not many people ever bought it and that it had very little driver support, which is a shame since it's so much more faster and responsive that Windows XP x86 (for me at least).

No, because it was the same thing as Windows XP but had far less driver support. It came out too late in the ballgame. People didn't really start switching to 64-bit until Windows Vista x64 came out.

Briefly as a wierd 90 day beta tester. Didn't even use it for the whole 90 days due to no drivers at the time and low software compatiblity.

Used it with a Vista x64 upgrade copy before I got TechNet.

I used Windows XP x64 until the 7 Beta was released. Had ambitions of making a video editing system. Got the ATI TV Wonder because it had 64 bit drivers. Then found out there was no 64 bit compatible software to even view cable TV much less capture it or edit the video ... well ... except for some really expensive professional software. Never did get a printer or scanner to work with x64. But slowly drivers did show up and I found some open source aps to use. I can still remember my delight when I installed the 7 Beta and started watching and recording TV with WMC!

Cheers!
Robert

Windows 7 is the first time that I have went 64-bit on a personal home computer. Prior to now, driver support was just too shaky and since I hadn't had reason to run more than 4GB of RAM...there was no reason to be on 64-bit.
