Any problems with turning router on and off as needed?

I have a Linksys wrt320N router hooked into my desktop. It will be used for my home laptop, and to enable my Panasonic BD85 (Panasonic supplied dongle) and Panasonic 50V10 TV (Linksys wet610N gaming adapter) to communicate with the internet. Presently, only the laptop is sometimes being used wirelessly (but most of the time it is directly hooked to the internet via ethernet connected to my modem), while the other two haven't been wireless engaged yet. The question is since the wireless will only be used intermittently (and is easy to get to), what will happen, if anything, if I were to turn the router on and off as needed? Will doing this cause the router's or adapters' settings to change causing me to re-set them?

Depending on how you have your router configured.
No the router settings are flashed into memory.
How ever power bumps will cause the router to lose conectivity with the modem occasionally.

If this happens, do i ahve to go through the whole intialization process again, or is there a quick reset? Thanks.

If the router loses the connection with the modem its best to reset/power off the modem and then router. Wait appx 10-30 seconds, power up the modem so that it can attain the dynamic address then power up the router.

Why do you want to turn the router off? Is your wireless connection secure? Do you turn off "Wireless broacasting" ? I have a similar set-up and I am old fashioned enough to turn everything off from the wall plugs at night and switch on next morning. The modem and router boot up and stay that way until end of day!

Actually only using the router occasionally, so why keep it on...might wear out sooner???

Sorry I thought it was at least in daily use. Don't think you will wear it out by normal use though, more like it will die from boredom if you don't use it
