Solved <ASK> Panda USB Vaccine with Autorun Regedit. Is it overkill?

Hello.... um... I'd like to ask about usb drive autorun....


from some time ago... I used this registry key to disable autorun on my laptop...

I read it on some articles...


Then I discovered Panda USB Vaccine... and I've been using both ever since...


My question is... is it an overkill to use both?


especially with Panda USB Vaccine NTFS support that is still in (beta) build... Will it conflicted...?


Anyone have any experience with using both...? Or what autorun disabler software do you use...?

The vaccine disables the AutoRun feature on computers *as well as on USB drives and other devices*.

This is a ‘vaccine’ for removable USB devices, preventing the AutoRun file from becoming a source of infection. The tool disables this file so it cannot be read, modified or replaced by malicious code.

I don't think it's overkill ... just 'layered protection'

are you using panda usb vaccine too? what do you think about the NTFS beta support? Have you encountered any problem using it...?


also, maybe i didn't get you right the first time... what i mean about overkill is to used both the registry hack...

I have autorun turned off

To disable Autorun yourself on operating systems that do not include Gpedit.msc, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following entry in the registry:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutorun
   
3. Right-click NoDriveTypeAutoRun, and then click Modify.
4. In the Value data box, type 0xFF to disable all types of drives. Or, to selectively disable specific drives, use a different value as described in the "How to selectively disable specific Autorun features" section.
5. Click OK, and then exit Registry Editor.
6. Restart the computer.

I also downloaded and ran Flash Disinfector by sUBs ....
Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it. Don't delete this folder...it will help protect your drives from future infection. (most anti-virus programs will flag it as malware, but it's not.)

used this in XP.... didnt work in vista....


does it works smoothly on 7...?


Is your 7 Pro/Ultimate...? Mine is home premium.. no XP backward capability or smthn >__<

umm i read the faq flash disinfector


it doesnt work on vista, or 7... idk why it works on yours but.... you might wanna revisit your usb device protection...
